Saint Padre Pio

"Pray, hope, and don't worry.
Worry is useless.
God is merciful and will hear your prayer."
(One of Padre Pio's Favorite Sayings)

Who Is Padre Pio?

Saint Padre Pio or St. Pio of Pietrelcina (25 May 1887 - 23 September 1968) was a Capuchin priest from Italy and is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. He was popularly known as Padre Pio after his ordination to the priesthood. He became famous after receiving the “Stigmata“(Jesus' nail marks in his hands and feet and spear mark in his side). On 16 June 2002, he was canonized a saint by Pope John Paul II. Padre Pio is the Patron saint of Confessors, Catholic Adolescents and Civil Defense Volunteers.

Sayings of Padre Pio

"Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God's heart.
You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips, but with your heart.
In fact on certain occasions you should only speak to Him with your heart.

Prayer To Our Heavenly Father Through Padre Pio's Intercession

Beloved Padre Pio, today I come to add my prayer to the thousands of prayers offered to you every day by those who love and venerate you. They ask for cures and healings, earthly and spiritual blessings as well as for peace in mind and body.

Because of your deep friendship with the Lord, God often heals those you ask to be healed,
and forgives those who are in need of forgiveness.
Through your visible wounds of the Cross, which you bore for fifty years,
you were chosen in our time to glorify the crucified Jesus.

Because the Cross upon which Jesus died has been replaced at times by other symbols,
please help us to bring it back in our midst to remind us it is the only true sign of salvation.

As we lovingly recall the wounds that pierced your hands, feet and side,
we are especially hopeful to receive the blessings we now make to Jesus
and Our Heavenly Father through your intercession.

(Here you might petition God for a particular blessing you desire.)

Another Prayer to Our Father

O Father in Heaven, You gave Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, Capuchin priest,
the great privilege of participating in a unique way in the sufferings of Your Son, Jesus.
Please grant me through his intercession the grace of . . . [name your request] which I ardently desire; and above all grant me the strength to carry my cross
and the grace of living in conformity with Your Holy Will
till I arrive at the glory of the resurrection.

Glory be to the Father . . . [three times].

"Stay With Me, Lord"
(Padre Pio's Own Prayer)

Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You.
You know how easily I might abandon You.
Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak, and I need Your strength that I may not fall into sin.

Stay with me, Lord, for You are my light, and without You I am in darkness.
Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your Will and how I should live.

Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear Thy voice and follow Thee.
Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love you very much and to be in Thy company always.
Stay with me, Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You.

Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is I want it to be a place of consolation for You,
and a nest of love for You to rest.
Stay with me, Lord Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a close.

Life passes; death, judgment, eternity approaches.
It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that,

I need You. It is getting late and death approaches, I fear the darkness, the temptations,
the dryness, the cross, the sorrows. O how I need You, Lord Jesus, in this night of exile!

Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all it' s dangers. I need You.
Let me recognize You as Your diciples did at the breaking of the bread,
so that the Eucharistic Communion be the Light which disperses the darkness,
the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart.

Stay with me, Lord, because at the hour of my death,
I want to remain united to You , if not by communion, at least by grace and love.

Stay with me, Jesus, I do not ask for Divine consolation, because I do not merit it,
but the gift of Your resence, oh yes, I ask this of You !

Stay with me, Lord, for it is You alone I look for, Your Love,
Your Grace,Your Will, Your Heart, and Your Spirit.
I love You and ask no other reward but to be able to love You more and more.

With a firm love, I want to love You with all my heart while on earth
and continue to love You perfectly for all eternity in perfect joy and peace and happiness.

So please, "Stay With Me Lord." Amen
